Assessment of tourist period 2005 for the region of Rhodes

The members of the Administrative Council of the Union of Hoteliers\nof Rhodes discussed issues round the tourist development of the island\nduring their last meeting.

The assessment of the results of the\ntourist period 2005: coastal, the prospects of development for 2006,\nthe foundation of Academic Faculty of Tourism, but also the exclusion\nof Rhodes and Kos from the Developmental Law, regarding the funding on\nthe construction of new hotel units were the subjects that dominated in\nthe agenda of meeting.

The president of the Union of Hoteliers,\nMr. Vasilis Minaides, granted an interview in a local newspaper\ncharacterizing the tourist period 2005 as a satisfactory season, while\nhe appeared optimistic for the prospects of 2006.

In addition,\nMr. Minaides supported that the rise of tourist arrivals is owed to a\nlarge extent in the promotion and publicity of our country by the\nMinistry of Tourist Development. He also mentioned that the coastal\nissue is evolved as one of the most serious and intractable problems\nthat the Dodecanese prefecture faced and he referred to the decision of\nthe Union of Hoteliers of Rhodes to study the configuration of a\nunified proposal that will be submitted in the Ministry of Mercadile\nMarine.
